Only with the generous support of our donors is the MHT Diabetes Trust able to help people with diabetes live their best lives. As a Charitable Trust, we rely on community support and grants to help supplement our funding from Health NZ – MidCentral District.
Where it goes
Our nurses and dietitians drive to Levin, Foxton, Dannevirke, Ōtaki, Pahiatua, Eketāhuna and Whanganui so that people do not have to come to Palmerston North. Four districts is a lot of road.
Every ingredient demonstrated in a Cooking Series session is bought, cooked and shared on the day. Tasting the food is what turns a nutrition talk into something people cook at home on Tuesday.
Youth camps, family days and the coffee catch-ups for 18 to 24 year olds run on grants and gifts. For a lot of our rangatahi it is the first time they have been in a room where diabetes is the majority.
Recipe booklets and course handouts go home in a bag and end up on the fridge. Print is not glamorous and it is the thing people still have three years later.
The MHT Diabetes Trust is a registered charitable trust, number CC38060, and our accounts are filed each year with Charities Services. We will send a receipt for any gift — email admin@diabetestrust.org.nz with your name and the date you gave. We do not sell, share or swap donor details with anyone, and we will not put you on a mailing list you did not ask for.
You can make a single, monthly or annual donation from your bank account by online transfer or internet banking. Please contact admin@diabetestrust.org.nz or call 06 357 5992 for the banking details.
