Camps, family days, go-karts and coffee catch-ups for young people up to 24 living with diabetes — and for the parents and caregivers holding it all together. Next up: Older Youth & Young Adults: Cooking on Sunday 23 August 2026.
The MHT Diabetes Trust is a Charitable Trust that serves the people of the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. We also support youth with diabetes and their families (whānau) within our rohe and Whanganui.
Our registered nurses and dietitians provide free, diabetes group education for people with prediabetes and diabetes throughout the MidCentral North Island. Our evidence-based education provides credible information in a supportive environment to help you take action to manage your diabetes and health.
Our youth coordinator provides youth and family support for whānau with a child (tamariki) or youth (rangatahi) with diabetes, and for young adults up to age 24 years. We provide opportunities to connect and network, providing a safe and fun environment, helping you take action to manage your diabetes and improve your health.
Offering a variety of in-person and online courses, support groups, social events and camps, the MHT Diabetes Trust can help support you and your whānau at any stage during your diabetes journey. We look forward to walking with you on your well-being (hauora) journey. Haere pai.
Free group courses taught by registered nurses and dietitians, in person across the rohe and online.
Camps, social events and support for tamariki, rangatahi and young adults up to 24, and for the people around them.
Diabetes-friendly recipes demonstrated at our Cooking Series sessions, plus seven years of recipe booklets.
I recommend it to anybody because we just didn't know what to do or where to go. As soon as we got onto the course, we felt so much better, it just sort of answered a lot of our questions and put that fear out of our mind.
